FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How do I become eligible for the Zama Public Auction?

Complete identity verification and link the wallet you want to use for bidding.

Can I participate if I am a U.S. resident?

Yes, if you successfully complete KYC/KYB.

Which countries are not eligible?

Participants that are citizens, or living in countries on sanctions lists from the United States, European Union or Switzerland are not eligible to participate. This includes: Afghanistan Belarus Bosnia Burundi Central African Republic Cuba Democratic Republic of the Congo Eritrea Ethiopia Guatemala Guinea Guinea Bissau Haiti Iran Iraq Laos Lebanon Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Moldova Montenegro Myanmar Nicaragua Niger North Korea Occupied Palestinian Territory Pakistan Russia Somalia South Sudan Sudan Syrian Arab Republic Tunisia Uganda United Kingdom Ukraine Vanuatu Venezuela Yemen Zimbabwe.

How many wallet addresses can I use?

You may use one wallet address to participate in the auction. This address must pass automatic fraud/AML screening. Only your primary verified address can place bids.

Which assets can I use to participate in the sale?

You can bid using Confidential USDT (cUSDT) on Ethereum mainnet. You can shield your USDT directly from the auction app. You will also need ETH to pay gas fees.

How are final $ZAMA allocations determined?

Final allocations depend on the sealed-bid Dutch auction outcome:

  • Bids above the clearing price receive their full $ZAMA allocation, and a refund for the extra cUSDT paid

  • Bids at the clearing price receive a pro-rata $ZAMA allocation based on the total, and a refund for the extra cUSDT paid

  • Bids below the clearing price receive no $ZAMA allocation, and a full cUSDT refund.

Can I place multiple bids?

You can have up to 10 active bids during the auction. The total sum of all your bids cannot exceed the total supply sold in the auction.

Can I withdraw or change my bids?

During the auction window, you can update your bid by cancelling a previous bid and submitting a new one through the app. Once the auction closes, bids are locked until resolution and settlement. Any unallocated funds are automatically refunded after allocation.

How can I manage my shielded assets?

Shielding operations convert standard ERC-20 tokens into confidential ERC-7984 tokens, a fungible token standard that keeps balances and transfers private using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE).

Once shielded:

  • Shielded assets can be unshielded, transferred, or managed like any other ERC-20 token.

  • Only ERC-7984-compatible wallets can manage confidential tokens, such as Zama Portfolioarrow-up-right or BRONarrow-up-right wallet.

  • The user experience is similar to standard ERC-20 operations, but all balances and transactions remain encrypted.

What is the utility of the $ZAMA token?

$ZAMA is the native token of the Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol.

It will be used for protocol fees and staking. It follows a burn-and-mint model, where 100% of the fees are burned and tokens are minted to reward operators and stakers.

You can read more about Zama’s tokenomics on this post on Xarrow-up-right or in the Zama Protocol litepaperarrow-up-right.
